Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Vakay and staff are skilled at a variety of techniques that can create a new
beautiful smile. We carefully gather information about your teeth and the smile that
you desire. A set of diagnostic digital photos, diagnostic study casts, bite relationship
and a set of radiographs is important in diagnosing the problem so that we may
design a smile for you individually that will last long-term. We also use diagnostic
computer imaging, "mock" ups (similar to an architect making a model of a building
prior to building it) and intraoral cameras.
Durathin Dental Veneers
Dura- thin™ Veneers are very thin porcelain veneers designed to adhere directly to the front of teeth with no removal of the enamel. This means that for some people, Dr. Vakay can design the smile of their dreams without even drilling on their natural teeth.
The new Dura-thin veneers, developed by Dr. Wells and dental lab technician Mark Willes, are changing the way dentists approach cosmetic dentistry. This revolutionary technique removes some of the concerns you may have about removing healthy tooth enamel. The contact lens-like veneers are bonded directly to the tooth in instances where we are trying to increase the size of the teeth or enhance a narrow arch width. Generally speaking, people who have had teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons in the past can be great candidates for this exciting procedure. Dr. Vakay has also used this technology to ‘turn back the clock’ for people with small or worn teeth, giving them a more youthful smile.

Bonding is a technique used to adhere tooth colored material to your tooth/teeth in a very conservative fashion. Bonding is most frequently used to close spaces (gaps) and change the color of your teeth. Bonding can be very durable when used in the proper place under proper conditions. Bonding usually lasts approximately 5-8 years.
Bleaching/Whitening - There are 2 types of bleaching techniques that we offer:
Take Home Bleaching - Custom fitted trays are made for the individual patient and a whitening gel is placed in the trays. The trays are worn for about 30 minutes per evening. The trays are typically used for a period of 4- 6 weeks to achieve the desired results.
Immediate In -office Bleaching: We offer "Zoom" (as seen on the program 'Extreme Make-Over')

Enamel Contouring (Shaping)- This is a process used to shape natural teeth to improve their appearance. This shaping is to correct minor problems such as small chips, pointy teeth, rough edges and minor changes in shape and position.
Tooth Colored Fillings: White fillings can replace small to medium old metal fillings and restore your teeth to a more natural and beautiful look. Our office is an amalgam-free office and has been for over 12 years.
Crowns/Caps : In some cases where a tooth is composed of a lot of filling material and is very weak, it may be necessary to restore this tooth with a crown or cap. Crowns may be composed of all porcelain so that there will not be a black line. Bridges and Implants - These are 2 options to replacing missing teeth. The choice of which one to use is dependent on a number of factors such as the tooth that is missing, the surrounding bone, the surrounding teeth, the bite and general health of the patient.
